We know each other on the surface,
for this is where we have danced
and waded into the shallows.
But now I yearn for the deep,
for I have glimpsed the treasure
that eluded me for many years.
All I do now is sit here pondering,
longing to return and rediscover
the depths, the meanings and the illusive.
I now know that I cannot coerce you
to accompany me down into the deep and
you cannot serenade me to stay on the surface.
And so my beloved, adieu.
Our dance was intoxicating while it lasted.
Perhaps someday we will tango again,
in that place where the deep meets the shallow.
